The Institute of Weed Science, Entomology and Plant Pathology (IWEP) is set to conduct a two-day Academic Program Improvement (API) workshop on August 2017. The workshop is in collaboration with the private business sector or ‘industry partners’, as some may call them. IWEP recognizes the importance the industry partners as one of the stakeholders of the University of the Philippines Los Baños. They participate in collaborative research, technology extension and in catering students’ internship programs.
IWEP officials, led by Dr. Teresita U. Dalisay, felt the need to conduct a dialogue and workshop with the industry partners particularly those involve in crop pest and diseases management to further improveme the courses. In this workshop the teaching staff will be aware of their current concerns and needs. The faculty would evaluate feasibility and rationally integrate recommendations into the current content of courses offered at IWEP. The institution wanted to revitalize their objectives and the topics of courses to strengthen its academic programs in accordance with the needs of the private industry.
The API workshop is funded by the UPLB Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs thru the College of Agriculture and Food Science (CAFS) Dean's Office.
