Institute of Weed Science, Entomology and Plant Pathology (IWEP)
Who we are
The Institute of Weed Science, Entomology and Plant Pathology (IWEP) is an integration of the Departments of Entomology and Department of Plant Pathology; Weed Science Division of the Department of Agronomy. In a series of meetings and consultations between 2016-2017, and finally in February 3, 2017: as per directive of the UPLB Chancellor and in accordance with the approval of the UP BOR, IWEP was established, along with the restructuring of the College of Agriculture and Food Science (CAFS).
Center of excellence in instruction, research and extension in Entomology, Plant Pathology, Weed Science and Integrated Pest Management.
To sustain its vision as a center of excellence, the IWEP will continue:
- to develop competent scientists and professionals with passion for excellence in science, global in perspective and committed to the service of the country;
- to develop environmentally sound, sustainable, and cost-effective pest management programs and technologies to address the crop protection concerns of the national research agenda and small farm holders;
- to disseminate scientific knowledge and technologies, and provide technical assistance in pest management
