OFFICE OF THE DIRECTOR
System of Governance
IWEP is headed by a Director who is directly responsible to the Dean of the College of Agriculture and Food Science, University of the Philippines, Los Banos. The director spearheads the planning and implementation of programs and activities of the institute. Being the chief executive officer of the institute, he/she presides over all staff meetings and acts as the chair of the IWEP executive committee and thus, automatically becomes a member of the College of Agriculture's executive committee.
Providing vital support to the Director is the Institute Deputy Director. He/she coordinates and monitors the research, extension and resource generation activities of the center. The cluster Assistant to the Director performs the academic functions delegated to her/him by the cluster director. He/she coordinates and monitor the institution, revision, abolition of courses and other related academic policies for the smooth implementation of both the undergraduate and graduate programs. In addition, the assistant to the director takes care of student admissions and welfare. Since the Assistant to the Director has not been appointed, the Cluster has 3 faculty coordinators for each of the major fields of specialization - Entomology, Plant Pathology and Weed Science.
The Head of administrative services, assists the cluster director and the deputy with regards to the administrative operations and functions of the cluster. Also, he/she performs general housekeeping jobs as well as act as the liaison officer for the cluster's general administration needs. .
The first director of the institute when it started on June 5, 2005 was Dr. Virginia R. Ocampo, Entomologist and faculty; next to her after 3 years was Dr. Avelino D. Raymundo, plant pathologist and faculty, followed by Dr. Celia dR. Medina, Entomologist and faculty, whose term ended in August, 2015. Current director of the cluster is Dr. Teresita U. Dalisay, plant pathologist and faculty.
